GDI Engine Service | Performance Restoration | Safe & Effective Carbon Removal
Direct-injection (GDI/FSI/TFSI) engines suffer from intake valve carbon buildup that reduces performance and fuel economy. Walnut shell blasting is the most effective method to safely remove carbon deposits and restore your engine to factory performance.

Walnut blasting is a mechanical cleaning process that uses crushed walnut shells (a soft, biodegradable abrasive) blasted at high pressure to remove carbon deposits from intake valves and ports on direct-injection engines.
Unlike traditional port-injected engines where fuel washes the valves clean, direct-injection engines spray fuel directly into the combustion chamber, bypassing the intake valves. This means oil vapors from the PCV system bake onto valve surfaces over time, forming hard carbon deposits.
Hard enough to scrub off carbon but soft enough not to scratch or damage valve surfaces, seats or ports.
No harsh solvents entering combustion chamber. Physical removal is more thorough and complete.
Reaches all valve surfaces uniformly. Manual methods risk valve damage and can't access all areas.
Common in these brands and symptoms
Recommended interval: Every 60,000-80,000 km for preventive maintenance, or immediately if experiencing symptoms above.
Remove intake manifold to access intake valves. On some cars, this requires removing other components for clearance.
Borescope inspection of valves to document carbon buildup severity. Take before photos for comparison.
Seal combustion chambers to prevent walnut media from entering cylinders. Proper masking is critical.
Blast each intake port and valve with crushed walnut shells using specialised equipment. Multiple passes until clean.
Thoroughly vacuum all walnut debris and carbon from ports. Ensure no residue remains that could enter engine.
Borescope inspection to verify complete carbon removal. Take after photos. Reinstall intake manifold with new gaskets.
Recover lost horsepower and torque from restricted airflow
Smoother acceleration, no more hesitation or flat spots
Engine runs more efficiently with optimal air/fuel mixture
Eliminate rough idle, misfires and vibration
Clean valves = complete combustion = lower emissions
Avoid costly repairs from severe carbon buildup
We provide before and after borescope photos so you can see the dramatic difference. Most customers are shocked at how much carbon was restricting their engine performance.
